Lattepanda mu is apparently a very powerful alternative.

With restic you can pipe to stdin, so I use mysqldump and pipe it to restic:

mysqldump --defaults-file=/root/backup_scripts/.my.cnf --databases db-name | restic backup --stdin --stdin-filename db-name.sql

The .my.cnf looks like this:

[mysqldump]
user=db-user
password="databasepassword"

Idk, the battery of my 12.9“ iPad Pro is great.

Also features heavily in the altered carbon books, where software tortures you for months in minutes of real time.

Afaik much smaller code base and as such easier to audit.

You can’t dedup/compress restic repos at fs level due to the encryption.

Nice thing is you get those even with „dumb“ targets that can‘t do those for you.

Restic is my tool of choice for deduplicated encrypted verifiable compressed incremental backups.

You can use all the apps you are familiar with and have already set up. Like you favourite maps software, your music subscription like Apple Music or Spotify, or things like podcast or audiobook apps, everything right on the big screen of the car.

Same on my Kia ev6. It has a smaller display with 2 physical twist knobs under the the main screen. That can be used for climate or media control, independent of the main screen.

I mean, it really is the only client that makes sense when you get more serious. It can seed 1000+ torrents without problems.

Exists, Nio does it and is steadily expanding the network, but with how fast the 800v cars are charging it’s not really a problem anymore. I took longer breaks on roadtrips than my ev needs to charge even when I still drove a diesel.

This actually exists here, the first two rows at the Aschheim drive in cinema have chargers.
