You forget that regulation exists. That is the only other option to reduce manufacturing of stuff like this. Relying on the “free” market is usually a bad idea, because in this world there isn’t really anything like a free market. Every market is disproportionately influenced by the people who benefit from the status quo.

I mean yeah, it’s cheaper due to technological advancement, but I fail to see how that’s an effect of capitalism. I’d argue similar developments would have been made even without capitalism. I just don’t think we would have the desire to leave this place without capitalism, but that’s besides the point.

While I agree with your assumption, I think main is less vague. Master can be interpreted several ways, including an offensive one. So while I agree with other commenter in that it’s unnecessary to go back and change things retroactively, but just setting the default branch name for new repos in your version control to main is a fair thing to ask IMO.
