Seems like there’s basically no effort to address disinformation. I love the idea of the fediverse, but I’ve never told a single person I use it in well over a year because I’d be embarrassed if they ever visited and saw some of the content that gets upvoted here.

Most people want to block those instances, not access them.

As with many things, its complex. A couple reasons:

• Propaganda on social media uses immigration as a wedge issue to divide people. For example, the Kremlin wants to get people angry about immigration AND angry about people trying to stop immigration. “They’re coming to eat your pets” and “anti-immigrant peoppe are all hateful racists”
• The planet is overpopulated. We’re running out of land and resources, and that makes people worried and protective of their territory.

Circular… you have to assume you exist in the first place for this to work.

Would be interesting to see reflective shades on large, glass-facade buildings to augment HVAC systems.

Shades open in the winter to cut waste from heating, then down in the summer to keep it cool.
