As the title asks, what apps are you running?

Also do you have your data on your host machine or on your main storage/NAS?

Last question, is it just my set-up or is NextCloud slow for everyone?

As the title asks, what apps are you running?

I don’t even use Nextcloud for files 😆 (except for syncing things)

I use PhoneTrack as an alternative to Google Find my Phone (including Android app).

I use Cookbook to track all my recipes, including Android app(s).

I use Tasks synced with the Tasks.org Android app.

I use Bookmarks for keeping track of stuff I’ll never look at again.

I’m using Contacts to sync contact from phone as a backup, so I don’t have to use Google.

Those are the main ones. I’m also using the Home Assistant integration so I can see some things I actually care about (not the weather, as the other commenter mentioned). And I use the Custom Menu because I like it more.

Also do you have your data on your host machine or on your main storage/NAS?

My host machine just has a big SSD.

Last question, is it just my set-up or is NextCloud slow for everyone?

Typically this is a setup thing. I always read stories about people who did X and were surprised by how snappy Nextcloud felt afterwards. Sorry, I can’t remember what they did! Something about postgres instead of mysql databases or stuff with redis or things like that.

Ive been using memories, cookbook, notes and maybe even more. Ended up moving to other services like immich and left nextcloud for files only. Runs way faster after disabling everything

Syncing with desktop so files are on 2 devices

Just started with it on a Hetzner host. Only one lesson learned so far: Memories is awesome and better than the default Photos app.

I have a bunch of apps installed because I’m trying them out to see if their viable replacements for Google/Office.

The apps I use tho are: Collabra, Contacts, calendar, notes, deck, and tasks.

Speed-wise I don’t think it’s slow. It’s not winning any races but it’s peppy enough. What sluggishness I do encounter I think it’s due to my storage (4 spindles in a zraid).

I have a second AIO instance on a VPS backed by B2 block storage I’m experimenting with. That one is, surprisingly, more sluggish. Seems to work well but I haven’t really put it though it’s paces yet. And I haven’t really figured out how I’m going to back it up.

I use owncloud, because I don’t need to know what the weather will be like in 3 days while using my NAS.

How do you get a 3 day forecast in NextCloud? I can only find the current weather widget on the dashboard that I could easily disable in 2 clicks if it really bothered me.

You know OC has apps too, right?

I used OC for nearly a decade before switching to NC this year. They’re two different flavors of the same ice cream that can be as bloated or lean as you want them to be.
