I do the same thing. I’ve tried Kavita and Audiobookshelf and ended up just keeping the books on a network share and then accessing them through Calibre. I am sideloading to a Kindle though.

I’ve had that happen to me. Usually a sign that one of the plugins hasn’t been updated for a newer version of Obsidian.

I’m interested in what you ended up choosing to do (if you have).

Have you considered keeping (or tweaking) your current folder system and putting it in an Obsidian vault?

The advantages are that you’d still be able to keep your pdfs as they but also tag and link them. (And if you doing like Obsidian you keep your files untouched.) Obsidian has lots of plugins that would help. Plus the Obsidian community has lots of TTRPG-ers who do some amazing things in Obsidian. And it’s all free.

In Doctor Who fandom, whenever the question “Who is your favourite Doctor?” pops up, the majority tend to say the current one. It also seems to be that this is responded to by younger fans/audiences. I wonder if it’s the same with Trek. Because of my age, I’ll ALWAYS prefer classic DW to recent stuff. There’s an element of nostalgia.

My first Trek was TOS and it’s what I think of AS Trek primarily. I wasn’t into TNG at all (because of my age and I’d moved away from stuff like this for a time). DS9 and, particularly, Voyager would rate mire highly as they were on when I was watching TV in the late 90s. I like SNW because it echoes TOS. While I’ll watch other Trek, it doesn’t have the same impact on me.

Jeffrey Hunter is pretty wooden in the role (as are almost all the actors in The Cage). He comes across as a flat, somewhat listless characters with issues with women. Anson Mount plays the role with a much better sense of the humanity of Pike.

I’d love to see a literal remake but there are scenes that just wouldn’t work (eg. the creepy scene where the young female ensign speaks to him).

I wasn’t that impressed with M’Benga in season 1 but he’s had excellent character development this season. After this episode, I think he could be my favourite of the SNW crew!

It just stores them to the folder you choose as a vault for your notes. I have seen people put their vaults on a USB stick which they encrypt for security.

No web version of Obsidian as far as I know. Have you tried SimpleNote?

I use it to sync from a webdav on my NAS at home to work computer if I ever need it. It also syncs from services like OneDrive, Dropbox, S3 etc.

There are other versions of similar syncing.

2nd vote for Obsidian.

I’ve moved from OneNote and Evernote about two years ago to Obsidian. I tried out (and still do look at) all the note-keeping apps and Obsidian beats hands down. For me, the major determiner was that it saves to plain text files that I can just transfer into any future app easily. The other aspect is that plug-ins enable you to tailor how Obsidian functions to your own working processes.

I’ve found keeping Obsidian in sync over iCloud pretty good as long as you keep the number of plug-ins on phone and iPad limited.

Thank you. I’ll take a look. Your suggestion has also led to the Obsidian/Memos plug in which might also be a good link.

I just wish the devs would simply as a means of exporting/importing a JSON file or something. It would then open up the app to a much wider audience as it’s really good.

When I mentioned this on Discord to the devs, they didn’t seem to find the idea of SSH-ing into wherever Memos is served much of an issue. I ran it in a Docker container on a Synology NAS and lack the skill (or confidence) of poking around too much in parts of the NAS that aren’t readily accessible.

I’d love to use memos (and have tried using it) but the backup/export is virtually non-existent.
