The article doesn’t mention how many times these cars slammed the brakes in false positive situations.
The cars I’ve driven with this are too conservative with braking in a lot of common scenarios like driving curvy mountain roads, or parallel parking in the city near pedestrians or taxis. I’ve had it brake multiple times in normal driving scenarios wtirh false positives.
The car takes over and decides to full stop immediately, almost causing me to be rear ended multiple times. Eventually the dealership turned off the feature, but only after multiple complaints from customers and media attention.
I vowed to never get another car with this system because of how bad the experience is. But looks like that may be an option only with used cars, due to the bew mandates.

I’ve also had a lot of fun using a projector in the living room as a display (with blackout curtains on the windows) but it may require some care to make the bulb last longer. And it was a bit annoying trying to figure out how to get audio and video working for consoles/laptops. I think you might need some kind of HDMI splitter and speakers to get audio and video working properly?
Another useful search term is “Display” or “Commercial Display” instead of “TV”
These “Displays” will be TV’s without any of the bloatware and spyware, but may be missing features like refresh rates, picture quality, etc.

The article mentions Kairos Power but doesn’t mention that their reactors in development are molten-salt cooled. While they’ll still use Uranium, its a great step in the right direction for safer nuclear power.
If development continues on this path with thorium molten-salt fueled and cooled reactors, we could see safe and commercially viable nuclear (thorium) energy within our lifetimes.

To my layman’s knowledge, using thorium molten-salt instead of uranium means the reactor can be designed in a way where it can’t melt down like Chernobyl or Fukushima.
Edit: The other implication of not using uranium is that the leftover material is harder to make in to bombs, so the technology around molten-salt thorium reactors could be spread to current non-nuclear states to meet their energy needs and reduce reliance on coal plants around the planet.

Kagi is rolling out more AI features and I cancelled my subscription after a year. I didn’t want my support going towards all the unasked for and unnecessary AI, I jist wanted private search and was willing to pay for that.

It sucks cause I really like the Mario Kart and Metroid Prime series and was hoping for more 3D metroid games, but there’s just so many other good games out there. Especially with Steam and the Steam Deck. I’ve had every nintendo console and handheld from the NES through the switch, but that’ll be my last console now that the steam deck exists and nintendo has become so hostile.
However I do wish there were more devices like the wii sensor and wiimote/nunchuk. I’d rather PC gaming go in that direction than with VR gaming cause I really hate having to move my neck around with VR.
Qobuz has been amazing. I tried almost all the music streaming platforms during the pandemic and thankfully found Qobuz!
SoundCloud: I was a long time user and a paying customer since 2016 and big advocate. Unfortunately things went downhill around that time as they started taking a lot of remixes and mixes off the platform. Then they introduced some arbitrary limits on the number of songs you could like/add to your library per day, and I kept getting banned from SoundCloud during the pandemic.
I kept threatening soundcloud support that I would cancel my plan but they didn’t care, it was a blanket decision and they accused me of making the community unsafe by liking too many songs. I didn’t care about their stupid social media aspect, I just wanted to discover new music and listen to what I liked by hitting the Like button to save songs to my library.
So eventually SoundCloud drove me off their platform and I ended up on Qobuz.
Even thought the Qobuz selection is more limited for the genres of music I listen to, its been an amazing few years on Qobuz with HiFi listening and I like how I can discover more music from the artists and labels that like or discover.
Qobuz migration progress: I found 1000 songs so far. I didn’t find 500 songs, mostly smaller artists or remixes. I still have another 1500 songs to sort through. But the great part about this journey is moving to high fidelity listening, and the process of discovering more music from my favorite artists or other artists on the same labels.
I ended up getting a bunch of gear from Schiit, DAC(Modi, headphone amp (Magni), speaker amp(Rekkr), desktop speakers, and a Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro. Been in HiFi heavenly bliss ever since getting pushed off soundcloud.
Not really, gaming is still my main hobby when I’m home. I’m just sinking thousands of hours in to more compelling gaming experiences.

When I switch from English (US) to Japanese (Mozc), the default option is “Direct input” meaning my US keyboard layout. Im sure if I check in settings I could change the default.
I have a dropdown menu on my Desktop Dock for Input mode. I have to change it over to Hiragana to start (I haven’t figured out the keyboard shortcut yet for that step).
So I hit Super + Space to switch to Japanese Mozc Then I use my mouse to change from “Direct Input” to “Hiragana”
Not sure if that’s where you were having issues, but yeah there’s probably some youtube guides that’ll help.
Edit:this guide here helped me. I had to set shortcuts for the muhenkan, henkan, and eisu keys, but now I don’t need to use my mouse anymore to swtich.
Anecdotes: my neighbors used to let their baby crawl around the gravel parking lot, neighborhood cats and dogs hanging out, and I was like “Those are good parents.”
Meanwhile a neat freak surgeon and nurse couple raised kids that are allergic to nearly everything in the world (ex used to babysit the allergic kids).
