Yeah, gaming (and tech in general) going mainstream brought with it both the good and the bad. More diversity, but also more corporate consolidation.

I actually went out and looked up a bunch of forums after the Reddit controversy last year. They’re slow, but I actually feel comfortable just browsing through and only posting if I feel like I can actually contribute. I would definitely recommend just going out and hunting for boards relevant to your interests.

I just find the generic yellow emojis used on most platforms annoying. Forums, Discord servers, or other sites that have custom emojis or older-looking “smilies” are more appealing to me.
