It’s ADHD bait. When I am on my meds, I get a dopamine hit every time I progress or solve something.

I’ve had one apart and to be fair they are not carelessly made. They’re jacketed in soft silicone under the braid and have thicker than average stranded conductors. You can totally use whatever cables you want, but theirs are built a little better than you’d think and they just feel nice.
Maybe this is a tactile/autism thing for me?
Not the person you responded to, but my m1 max macbook pro is used to dry run changes to my kubernetes cluster by running 4 virtual machines and networking them. My previous pc could pull it off fine, but my macbook can run a virtual cluster for hours on battery.
Because of the unified memory, you can use all of your ram as video ram for the purposes of running a massive LLM if you want local AI. there’s a plugin I run for VScode that emulates github copilot but runs entirely on device and offline.
Apple’s ARM implementation is really nice for getting a lot of specific work done. Mine spends most workdays docked and being used as my primary workstation.
Yeah, audio and video workloads really need the ram. The base model is fine for content consumption though.
The problem is the electrical resistance of the socket. Most of the performance on apple silicon is achieved through extremely high bandwidth, low latency memory. Unfortunately that necessitates a socketless design at the moment, and you can see that happening on the snapdragon X too.
My hisense google tv connected to an open wifi network and updated without being told to. The update broke CEC and hdmi arc. I cannot adequately express my rage at this moment.
Yes, I have one and remember doing just that.

Individual lawmakers have personal values and agendas. Humans are chaotic contradictions cloaked in a semblance of order.
Admittedly I am in a weird situation where consoles and steam deck are both off the table. I am a bit of a framerate junkie. 30fps is unplayable.
Amusingly my m1 max macbook can actually hold 120fps in final fantasy xiv and actually has a 120hz screen, but those specs for the price would make no sense if this wasn’t also my main productivity system. The battery life, heat, speakers and screen quality are all huge bonuses in this case.
A steam deck would never satisfy me, so a gaming laptop would have been mandatory for travel if not for my macbook.
The bigger point here is that if you need that kind of power, it comes with compromises to battery life, heat, and device longevity.
Apple silicon is just fast enough for most workloads you want on a laptop, and can handle surprisingly heavy video workloads. For anything more, a desktop is a better idea than a laptop anyways.
There’s definitely a niche for desktop replacement class laptops, but that is a niche. Gaming laptops are still king though. You don’t buy a macbook for gaming.
At max usage, an m1 has a hard time overheating. The hardware is really good this time, and the previous overheating was due to insufficient cooling hardware.
Even if apple adds features that run the cpu/gpu/neural cores as hard as possible, overheating is not really on the table the same way it was on x86 macbooks.
Could be moisture in the filament contributing.
Amusingly there are a lot of fetish gear Etsy shops that are still above board, but not much else in my experience.
Their ipads and macbooks use usb-pd, and their chargers provide it. Not a guarantee, but a decent sign.
Find me a reasonably priced 70” monitor and i will hail you as the next coming of christ. That is the holy grail for me.
A facelift on thunderbird is long overdue and I’m all for improving any alternative to outlook. That shit was the bane of my existence when I worked hospital IT.
I wouldn’t personally use chatGPT ,or any language model for that matter, if factual information is the goal.
DDG has been my go-to recently, but mostly because I’m jaded with current year data harvesting and such. The internet feels like such a hassle these days .-.
It makes sense if you are a telecom company that refuses to upgrade infrastructure to handle more subscribers.
