  • Pregabalin actually has the opposite effect on me, it wakes me up so I take it in the morning. It also gives me some pretty bad withdrawals if I miss a dose by more than 24hrs. I’m only on 400mg and it’s one of the few drugs I’ve been on that actually help with my depression, so not bashing it, just sharing my experience. :)

eta: it’s been a long time since I’ve tried taking it at night, I’m going to try it again and report back. Maybe I’ve been missing out on a cure to my whack ass sleep this whole time

update: nah it actually didn’t make much of a difference for better or worse. I’m glad it helps for some people though!

  • There’s a chance public/hotel/airplane WiFi will have what’s called a captive portal that will want you to agree to the terms and conditions or pay money to whoever owns the router. This is usually done by redirecting normal web traffic to a page with the tos, but if you’re not browsing the Internet and are instead, say, only using steam, it can cause issues. If that happens pop into desktop mode, open Firefox, go to any website and see if you get redirected to the hotel’s portal.

At least it used to be that you sometimes needed to open a browser. Maybe technology has advanced past that now days.

Regarding using other networks - never had a problem, at least not when visiting family and friend’s places

  • Probably not well. Its drm does some weird shit where it (3dexperience) runs in the background and then launches a web page that has you log in and you launch and update from the browser. I think there’s a way to directly launch it with a shortcut but all in all it just does so much weird shit that i haven’t even tried.

I miss Autodesk Inventor but i can’t remotely justify the price for dicking around with personal projects and solidworks for makers is a pretty damn good deal. Plus SW seems like the industry standard so looks better on a resume? I’m a programmer so it doesn’t really matter but meh.

OnShape might be okay, probably runs just fine on Linux, but i hate that its cloud based. I just want to own my software goddamnit.

One day we’ll have a foss parametric non-destructive blender-level cad suite. FreeCAD and OpenSCAD are neat but not really what I’m looking for.

    I’m ranting again…
