Actually it is trained on data ‘the trainers have’. This is different from ‘trained on data that “is”’ or any other idealized view of data.

Data that ‘the trainers have’ is always an incomplete view of anything, and adding meaningfully to datasets is always very difficult.

I would recommend that 404media self-host. It would be even better for their journalists and staff. This would require either paying for their instance or some IT person to help them out. Either way, I think all news organizations should self-host their mastodon instances.
