Yeah this was the issue for a lot of the 2-in-1s I looked at. Lenovo, Dell, even Microsoft have some cool options, but they’re insanely expensive by the time you spec them to be comparable to the V3.

I was just pointing out the state of things on an up-to-date distro like Fedora as many times a newer kernel fixes stuff like this and no one bothers to update old reviews. I was already aware of the link you provided (it’s literally pinned to the top of the blog post I linked in my main post), but it’s irrelevant when I’m talking about the out-of-the-box experience. I only tried the input-remapper fix because someone pointed it out and I wanted to confirm that worked for me.

I didn’t make this post to complain about issues or ask for solutions, I’m here looking for interesting ideas and questions about this super cool hardware. This thing’s fucking awesome and I wanted to share.

I am super tempted to switch to KDE on this thing. KDE has always looked cool, but I’m too happy with Gnome on my main desktop to justify fully switching. This is seeming like a perfect opportunity for some variety…

Just tried it, and yep, that solved that problem.

GrapheneOS on a Pixel 8 Pro. I’ve been super happy with it since I switched from iOS.

I haven’t had a chance to try the demo yet, but Old School Rally looks stellar.

Craigslist in my area is at least 90% spam, FB Marketplace is also not super active. OfferUp is pretty popular though.

Watching live service games crash and burn is just so cathartic.

Nio has seemingly been successful with battery swap stations in their cars, so luckily the concept hasn’t been completely abandoned.

Just finished upgrading, all went smooth and Gnome 46 kicks ass so far. VRR is finally here!

Logitech hardware used to be good, but even that’s gone to shit. Got tired of their awful mechanical mice switches failing and switched to a Razer mouse with optical switches, no regrets.

Razer might actually fit better in this meme.

I remember there being a bug with AMD GPUs and monitors with freesync a few kernel versions ago. It’s exactly like you said, random brief freezes.

Try updating to a newer kernel or disable freesync in your monitor settings (if appplicable).

When I was a kid, for some reason I really wanted coal for Christmas and I was diappointed that only the bad kids got it. My parents decided to mess with me one year by hiding all my actual presents and only putting a piece of coal in my stocking. I was thrilled and thought it was so cool. I have no idea why I thought it was cool, I was a weird kid. My parents gave up on the joke before I even realized that none of the presents under the tree had my name on them. I was entirely happy with the piece of coal.

Ironically, it’s become one of my favorite Christmas memories and it’s one of few presents I still have as an adult.

Yep. To expand on this if people still want to use social media, here’s what helped me. The constant doom scrolling is unhealthy and unhelpful.

1. Block or mute news/doomsday communities/people on social media. Link aggregators and algorithm-driven social media just sucks for news across the board. Use Lemmy (or Reddit, etc) for memes, interesting discussions, cool pictures, whatever, but not news.

2. Collect a list of news sources you trust and add them to an RSS reader. Ideally in a separate folder from other feeds so you can easily filter them out when you aren’t interested in world news. You only get one “post” per article, rather than seeing the same “everything sucks now” article reposted to 20 different communities, and it’s buried in good ol’ boring news. Everything is less exciting in this format, it’s great.
