I like cake.
Feedbro, it’s a browser extension.
I‘m using a RSS reader with rule based filters to remove uninteresting articles (to me) and upvote or downvote articles with certain keywords (for me). That way I can aggregate lots of media and have my own personal feed.
It takes some time to set up and fine-tune, though.
The concept of needing to register copyright does not exist in most countries. In many countries you just have it and you can enforce it.
Fediverse servers do exist outside of the USA so this is relevant for people who run those servers.
The fact that many western weapons seem to go missing before they reach the front and the coincidence of the Azerbaijan getting a pile of muntions just after deliveries to Ukraine may indicate that the aims of the Ukraine govt may not totally align with those of western europe.
Or it might indicate that you‘re somewhat gullible and consume too much propaganda.
that my hobbies are collecting retro video games, watching 80s-early 2000s anime, and the like
I can promise you that you’re not the only human in your area that is interested in these things. Sounds almost main-stream to be honest. You do need to find a place where you can share your hobbies with others (conventions, gaming groups, fan clubs). Without meeting humans there is little chance to meet interesting humans (serendipity). I‘m not only talking about finding „the girlfriend“, but also friends in general.
Should I just give up? At times I feel like life and everything that comes with it is pointless, that it’s not even worth it.
Certainly not. You already realized that you want to change your situation; that’s a good first step already. Now talk to new people. It doesn’t matter where or who. Look for hobby meetups in your area and go there. You can also learn new hobbies. Join a choir or cake connoisseur championship for all I care; just don’t do it alone if you’re feeling low currently. We as a species are social beings and need social contacts. There are groups and clubs for everything.
Violence, by definition, is an unjustified use of force. If a use of force is justified then it isn’t violence.
You’re right, but just to be clear: That is an English differentiation that doesn’t exist in many other languages.
In case someone doesn’t know the reference to Futurama in the first paragraph: https://youtu.be/Wxu7z7hfVns?si=6nR-JTSaYVDA4IEt

Great update, and an interesting read, too!
Alt and title attributes for screen readers don’t require space. Actual labels require space that might vary greatly depending on the language.
Home | Products | About | Privacy
Takes less screen space than e.g.
Startseite | Produkte | Über uns | Datenschutz
It is still doable, of course. It is just another thing one must account for. Languages that read from right to left or top to bottom are especially hard to implement in a satisfying manner, if you’re not used to it. With icons one can somewhat circumvent the issue.
Just check with your target areas jurisdiction first. At least in Germany your suggestion is considered illegal practice (I‘m unsure regarding the rest of the EU). Here, two uniform yes and no buttons are required to make an informed decision, according to courts (no suggestive design and no inconvenient hiding of the decline button are allowed). The reasoning is that if a user just clicks the highlighted button by muscle memory or convenience this cannot be considered valid consent.
God, I hope we can find a proper and widespread browser based solution to consent management soon.
It is hard to read text with very long lines. Have you tried it? You need multiple text columns if you want to use more horizontal space (newspapers and large books have been doing this for centuries for this reason).
Creating columns was quite tricky before the widespread browser support for the relevant css. There was at least a decade with widescreen monitors but without proper (and responsive) column support in browsers.
That being said: Pages that are newer than let’s say 2020 don’t have this excuse.
That is not legally possible in the EU. You can grant irrevocable usage rights, but you cannot give away your copyright.
Why would anyone switch from Unity to Unreal to evade the revenue share? Both engines have that.
Godot might be an alternative.
“non-retroactive” clause directly in their contract
I also wonder how Unity‘s approach will work in countries where that is the legal default. I have a feeling that we will be seeing quite a few lawsuits next year, if they actually go ahead with their plans.
I have yet to find an LLM that can summarize a text without errors. I already mentioned this in another post a few days back, but Google‘s new search preview is driving me mad with all the hidden factual errors. They make me click only to realize that the LLM told me what I wanted to find, not what is there (wrong names, wrong dates, etc.).
I greatly prefer the old excerpt summaries over the new imaginary ones (they‘re currently A/B testing).
Since Mohammed in various variants accounts for almost 2% of all humans (4% of males), this seems plausible, regardless of how many Mikes there are.
What‘s the worth of AI generated summaries if they are not factually reliable? The new Google search result previews that are generated by AI (and I believe Google as a large company has more resources than most of us do) contain so many obvious factual errors (i.e. made-up names, wrong places, false dates) that I really doubt current generation AI is ready to be a reliable help in this use case.
I, too, like the idea of not having to do all this work manually. But we’re not there yet.
I love the mechanics. But the naming could be much better. This is not WoW.
I have never been so certain that I am the target demographic. This is my jam.
He drove me back into using RSS after more than a decade for staying up to date. Much better for the mental health. Thankfully, since Wordpress and also some other CMS have the RSS feature enabled by default, many websites have it even if they’re not advertising it.
