Because swear words are, to me, an expression of anger or irritation. Swearing would therefore reinforce angry mindstates.
Yes, this was both very helpful for my mind, i’m happy and calm most of the time, and others appreciate it too and are happy to be around me.
It didn’t stop me from expressing anything. It just makes me pause to think of a better, kinder way to express myself, without making other people angry. It helps communicating with other people in a more friendly, helpful way. When i would be angry, it would be hard to listen to other people.
Great, then it will starts actually making pizzas filled with glue
That’s what i do, but they never really listen, even though i usually ask to just cut off x cm or something.
At one time vegan shoes were cheap. And suddenly, everywhere the non-leather shoes disappeared and vegan shoes popped up and were advertised at ridiculous prices. They just changed the wording and adjusted the prices. It’s just a marketing tactic and one they use often for whatever stuff you can buy. It’s not so much that people are willing to pay. It’s just that vegan friendly, decently quality at decent prices are very hard to find now. At least here in the european country where i live.
Actually, the meat eater did all the cooking and was very considerate with everyone’s wishes :-)

I vaguely recall dolphins and seals being trained to throw a ball through a hoop. Don’t know about the distance though
Only if they have also have ants available with good skills in anesthetizing
Maybe you could rent a mobility scooter instead? Some are suitable for indoors (3 wheels) and the speed is adjustable. It might save the use of your arms and hands, which are not used to the movements you need to make

And keep your teeth and gums healthy. Take care of them. Not only brushing and flossing, but don’t eat all day long and stay away from juices and sodas, since they are acidic and wear away the enamel of the teeth. Finally, try to keep your weight in check and eat your veggies (not always the same ones) and some fruits.
To add: drink plenty of non caloric fluids and keep away from too much UV (use sun screen). And avoid the heat, since older people can’t regulate hot temperatures as well. And, for countries where you can afford it, get medical checkups or go to the doctor when something seems off. In my european country we have certain free, voluntary checkups at certain ages to check for things like colon cancer and breast cancer.
Lol, thanks for the reading material, i will definitely read it and, who knows, maybe even reconsider!
What i really would love are tips and tricks. I remember another community that started doing that, but after a few times they stopped. Very frustrating, because it was quite interesting to read.
I also like all kinds of discussions about why one chooses this or that terminal, or why they choose flatpak over certain repositories. Discussions about what went wrong and how they solved it (because then you learn where you need to look for issues and what people need to know from you to be able to help out).
Experiences from newbies are nice too; what distro did they choose and did they run into issues.
Sharing interesting websites would be nice as well.
Just some thoughts.
Personally, i would prefer it if the linux 4 noobs community would be brought back to life, or if we have dedicated threads here where we can discuss newbie stuff.
If we would go the route of threads, some helpful people who have a lot of experience could decide to help out and others could just skip the thread.
And if people would want a new community, i would hope that it is not called something like ‘ditched windows’, because that sounds like a recipe to make it a community to complain about windows. For me as newbie, i’m looking for 2 things; info and howto’s and suggestions about everything linux, and the knowledge that there are others who are also new and ask things that would be interesting for me as well.
I’ve considered it, read about how it works, and i still might, but for now i think it takes quite a lot of space on my pc.
That would be perfect. Especially when others would respond with ‘Have you tried this’, it could also create great learning opportunities
