If there were any doubts on the signatures, officials can contact the people who signed and verify that they did sign. How do you verify a secret vote without ruining the secrecy?

I mean you can have online voting if you cast a ballot thats public, and it’d be verifiable, but then we go back to the 1800s in the US where threatening voters is a thing.

Best way to not have to deal with stuff like this is just to not have the incriminating evidence in the first place. If you are, for example, doing a protest, only chat with contacts in a safe place, then wipe chat logs every time, any data you wish to keep should be encrypted then uploaded anonymously via VPN/Tor and wiped from local storage. Hide the fact that such data exists so you wouldn’t have a scenario where the government is trying to get you to give them the data, since they dont even know what data exists. Plausable deniability.

Edit: Those apps I’ve linked is still a good idea since “Destruction of Evidence” is probably a lesser charge than something like “Rioting”.

All open source, I have tested these apps on my phones, they work great. The second app about the duress password is a bit glitchy and didnt work on some of my phones.

My opinion is:

Somewhere beween 2016 Trump and Erdogan-era Turkey. But if democrats dont win midterms and 2028 election (if there even is a 2028 election), then we go beyond Erodogan’s Turkey into Russia territory.

Very bad, but the US has Federalism, we might be able to survive if state governments resist. There would be so much damage to US institutions, but if democrats win future elections, we can still save this.

Edit: Also, giving him a prison sentence before he takes office wouldn’t do anything either. Even if the Biden-led SS cooperates, on Jan 20 at noon he is president and the military is getting him out, he’d the order the arrest of NY state officials.
