Yeah at this point it’s a question of when the hype ends and it all comes tumbling down. There’s nothing but investor sentiment holding the price where it’s at.

That might be their internal reasoning but Apple will very quickly move to have these capabilities in house. Apple has been working on machine learning for a while but they don’t collect data so they are unable to build these LLMs.

For now it makes sense for Apple to leave the liability of basing these LLMs on copyrighted data. If OpenAI losses those court battles, they take the hit for services rendered to Apple. None of that liability transfers to Apple.

Meanwhile, Apple is going about this the Apple way by encouraging developers to integrate their apps into new frameworks being added. This gives them access to user data directly from the source allowing them to build personalized models.

These models will likely be far more useful to the day to day mundanity of life than the hallucinogenic encyclopedia that is ChatGPT.

Yes. I understand the people who don’t use Apple products think they are smarter than those who do. Your list of common tropes is tiresome.

The reality is quite far from what you imagine. People who actually understand technology, people who are in the tech industry use Apple products at a higher rather than those who are not.

Instead of Apples well thought out walled garden, fools happily pay extra to play in Google/Amazon/Microsofts chain linked dirt pit. It’s hilarious what lengths people go to pretend that is a better experience; that rusty chain link with barbed wire is superior to walls

This is why I went with HomeKit devices. I do not understand why people trust Amazon or Google, their business models are not pro-consumer.

If Apple pulled at one of the maneuvers these two have, there would be a flood of articles condemning them. No one expects Amazon or Google to respect you.

I hope he spends billions on it only to resell it for millions after the internet moves on.

This is long and I got bored but skimming it, it sounds like he was being stubborn about returning the items because he felt aggrieved. I can’t really feel much sympathy for his situation.

Amazon has definitely declined but this isn’t the shinning example I was hoping it to be.

He got lucky with Tesla becoming a meme stock.

SpaceX is being run by a competent engineer while its competitor, Blue Origin is being run by a megalomaniac. This is possibly Musks only competent move in business.

The rest of his ventures have been failures. To any one not blinded by greed, it’s clear he long ago peaked. He’s playing a shell game now but people will happily invest hoping luck will strike again.

Tesla shorts are going to enjoy this.

Unfortunately much of the world feels entitled to the labor of others and refuses to acknowledge the mental gymnastics we accept as a society.

One has to look no further than the way we treat food service employees. People demand to be served. They feel they are entitled to their basic human needs being serviced while blaming those servicing them for being under valued.

Really just sounds like they are deploying government equipment. There is no report of it being hardware built by spaceX. That is all speculation and clickbait m.

The company makes money by delivering payloads to space. In the end they are a delivery company moving packages from point A to point B.

That the US government would use this service seems obvious. SpaceX is well known for profiting off government funds.

Pay to have fiber run to your house. Your living choice isn’t our problem.

From the toaster you’d still need to find a way to access a trusted device. This is going to require an exploit. But first the toaster needs meet some specific requirements, like does it have a web server or shell. If it’s a simple device that merely broadcasts its state it likely does it meet these requirements.

If your WiFi thermostat is broadcasting its default SSID, that means it is not connected to your WiFi. At most you can take control of the device but it won’t get you onto the trusted network any faster than hacking their WiFi directly. Best to go for a device already on the network.
