Context: the Thin Blue Line is symbolism for the role of police in maintaining public order. It has been co-opted by the alt-right. There is also a Thin Red Line to represent nurses. The French Wikipedia happened to use it in a legend to explain what the red lines on a map mean.

Can you explain more? I don’t see how this is any more than using a regular red line to indicate something on a map. Since I don’t speak French, I don’t know what it’s indicating, but I don’t see anything to do with cops or nurses here.

The page itself is just a map with a legend that says that the red lines on the map are roman roads.

Except if you look at the legend, and click on the image for the red line, that white rectangle with a red line links to a file that is named “thin red line for nurses flag.”

It’s just a coincidence / lack of attention / someone picked a random image that looked good enough for a map legend.

      Same here, can’t see it.

Also fucking context. I’m not French but I doubt american thin blue/red line means anything for the French

If you apply American context to every other country, you’d be surprised to see KKK in big letters on Finnish first aid course. Stands for Cold, Elevation, Compression (Kylmä, Koho, Kompressio)

As a Frenchman who spends way too much time reading shit about US politics, I didn’t know about the thin red line. Pretty sure the WP editor didn’t either, or didn’t care (as he should).

I hope this is a troll post, otherwise maybe don’t give fascists the exclusivity on a red line on a white background?

OK but that description seems totally harmless if you don’t follow US politics. And even then, I knew about the blue line for cops but had no idea about the red one. Are we protesting nurses now? Is it a COVID thing?

… seems like the editor just picked a random image with red line on it without thinking further

You do know you can use words in addition to emojis right? I have no idea what you’re quoting and what you’re trying to say.

Fucksake. I’m pointing out that every one of your comments, at the time of their posting, we’re already answered by comments above them. Using emojis seemed a gentler way to convey this, but clearly a more blunt instrument is needed with you, friend. 🤫

It literally uses and links the image for ‘thin red line for nurses’: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modèle:Début_Rue_Judaïque#/media/Fichier:Thin_Red_Line_for_Nurses_Flag.svg) as part of the map’s legend.

I don’t think it’s meant to be anything even remotely political or even intentional I just think it’s amusing. I have no idea what OP’s take on it is.

I also think a Finnish first aid course accidentally linking something related to the KKK would be incredibly funny. “Oh, right I forgot what the three Ks stand for. Thankfully they have this helpful link to jog my mem- uhhh…”

They have used a file named “Thin Red Line for Nurses Flag” as the key for the red line on the map. If you click on the red line in the legend, it will take you to that file.
