So I’ve got a manifold of train stations–one line comes in, branches into like six parallel train stations, and then they rejoin into one line. Each station has a block signal at each end, so the one-into-many section and the many-into-one section are blocks.
Sometimes, when there’s enough traffic that more than train is finished unloading and ready to take off, when the many-to-one block frees up, two trains will enter the block simultaneously and collide.
Anyone know what to do about that?
Are your signals directly before/after the stations? Or, are they closer to the forks?
It goes platform platform platform station (signal) 90° bend straight track.
I’ve had this happen before. When two trains are waiting for the same block to clear, as soon as the train leaving the block exits they both get a green light and enter the block at the same time, resulting in a collision. Sometimes at a low speed so they don’t derail and you don’t get an alert.
Replace the block signals going into the many-to-one block with path signals. This will ensure only one train is allowed to enter the block at a time.
I tried that, got flashing yellows.
Make sure all the entrances to the block are path signals, if you missed any and there’s still a block signal entrance you’ll get an error.
IMHO I find that having a two foundation long block of rail before and after the station helps with trains running smoothly than the trains directly going into a one to many or many to one block. My bet is that it helps gives a train space to stop while the other trains go through the combo blocks.
