Played it through on the SD when it released last year, took me 32 hours. Now I’m 8 hours into my second run and it’s as fun as the first time. Perfect Steam Deck game.

I could not recommend this game enough for fans of the Legend of Zelda style of game. I loved the art style. And it was different enough from LoZ that it didn’t feel like a soulless clone. I really loved the mechanic of finding the pages and uncovering the mystery. Overall I just loved the mysterious vibe the game has.

This game was very close to a perfect game for me. The only thing that could make it better is that I felt like the difficulty was all over the place. Some parts were very easy and some parts were very hard. Luckily you aren’t punished too much for dying and trying a part again, so it being hard in some parts wasn’t bad. Nothing was unbeatable, you just need to learn the attack patterns of the enemies.

This game, man. Fucking love it. You know that scene in Ratatouille, where the food critic takes a bite and is transported back in time to his childhood? I got this feeling, hard, when this game clicked for me.

I remember as a kid buying Links Awakening for my new Game Boy Color, the first real gaming system I got to own myself, instead of playing at a friends house. Like all new games I bought at the time, I would open them in the car on the way home to look at the manual, to hype myself up EVEN MORE for this gaming experience I am about to be blessed with.

If you’ve played both games, you know that the Tunic book is heavily inspired by Links Awakening and other similar game manuals. That shit was wild, as a 33 year old Boring Fucking Adult, I got to feel that same feeling again, and it was glorious.

And then I played more and caught onto the clues. The whole game, in front of you the whole time, but so cleverly hidden. Can’t say much more than that without ruining it. Be curious, and observant.

I played Tunic on steam deck as well and absolutely loved it, just haven’t been able to get any friends to take the recommendation yet.

Both me (loooong time gamer) and my partner who isn’t really into games anywhere near as much, both absolutely loved this game. Highly recommended.
